CITIZEN'S OBSERVATION PATROL
INTRODUCTION
 
Citizens Working with Law Enforcement an Unbeatable team.
 
Sheriff Ken J. Mascara is committed to serving the citizens of Saint Lucie County utilizing the most efficient methods possible.  The utilization of citizens as patrol members is a proven and efficient method of preventing crime in communities through the establishment of Citizen's Observation Patrol.

Citizens Observation Patrol (C.O.P.)
 
The C.O.P. is a group of volunteers that patrol designated areas.  The patrol volunteers observe and report suspicious activity, people, or objects.  Check vacation or seasonal un-occupied homes, make contact with elderly or infirm individuals to ensure their well-being, and perform other related functions as my be delegated by the Sheriff for the community.
Standards for Membership
 
An individual may be appointed as a Citizens Observer by meeting the required application guidelines:
 
bulletBackground Check
bulletMust be at least twenty-one years of age
bulletCompletion of the C.O.P. 16 hour training course
bulletAny other required training as prescribed by the Saint Lucie County Sheriffs Office

Lake Forest at St. Lucie West has met all the requirements and has been given a C.O.P. car for use in our community.
